how to cancel a progressbar

hi,

I have a jprogressbar and a textArea which are working perfectly fine, but when i want to add a cancel button, so that the user can stop the process, the cancel button does not appear untill 100% is done. how shall i get the cancel button appear along with the progressbar and the textarea..
