Sun Java Instant Messenger Installation Problem while installing in RHEL4

While installing the Sun JAVA Instant messenger in RHEL the installation proceeds fine untill the screen that appears asking for the host name .... domain name...ip.....

Though the ip field and the domain field get filled automatically... the wizard does not proceed after filling up the entire form

An error comes up saying that the ip address in invalid ... and it could not be verified..

The ip is static assigned as 192.168.1.252... even tried changeing the ip... Still no success...

Please do help

Hi,

Is the IP in question registered in your DNS server? It is highly likely that the installer is attempting to resolve the IP address (via a DNS server and ignoring your /etc/hosts file) and failing.

What does the following command give as a result:

host 192.168.1.252
