specific routing problem (multiple ISP connection, one for fallback)
I磛e come accross some problem here which I cant solve, so I hope I磎 right here and someone can help.
- OS is Solaris 9 which runs on a Sunfire Server.
- This machine is used as Proxy, Firewall and VPN Gateway.
One one Interface it has a fixed IP as Internet connection, this comes from a bigger router with multiple IP磗.
Since this connection sometimes goes down I thought of a backup solution for it, so that at least some important persons can connect to the network via VPN.
For this I set up another router(a small one similar to that I have at home) and connected it to another Interface. It has a fixed IP also.
My thought behind this was to have the VPN Tunnel available from outside through the second fixed IP when the main Internet connection goes down.
What I didn磘 thought of was the default gateway and gererally the routing table.
My first idea was to set up two default gateways, but only the vpn-traffic should be routed through the second one and only if the first one isn磘 available.
So my question:
Is there a way to set up the routing so that it routes specific(vpn) outgoing traffic to another (default?)gateway in case the first route does not respond?
Is there any possibility of directing this traffic in that way?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my not so well english.
