Wanting to start
I have Solaris 10 installed on my computer. Just finished a second time with the installation. I am running Windows XP also. I can open into the start menu of Solaris and log my username. That is as far as I can get.. When I try to type in the password, the keyboard doesn't work. I can hit any and all the keys and get no response (except enter). This is the same problem that I had the first time I had installed it. I removed the first installation and formatted. Then I downloaded the bundle with the manager again. and that is what I used. Would anyone know how I might be able to get further into my solaris then the front door?

ROFL.
Enter works because in the password box, solaris shows no characters. The block will look blank even if you type sentences in it. That's done for extra security - users don't have to worry about peekers knowing how many characters are in their password - and sun doesn't have to worry about settting the echo rate to something other than 1 asterisk.
Windows always shows 1 asterisk, so password will echo as ********.
Linux allows you to change how many asterisks are echoed (from 0 to 3 IIRC in most distros).
Solaris just doesn't echo at all.
When you press enter, it validates the entered response.
Perhaps you forgot your password (typed it too fast, and got some letters mixxed up?).
