Partitioning harddrive and installing solaris 10.
Hello,
I just burned Solaris 10 to a disk so I can install it. However, I am preparing to partition my hard drive. I wanted to know how much space I should parition for Solaris 10 and what file structure I should use (FAT, FAT32, NTSF, etc. ). Where can I find information about installing Solaris 10 without overwriting Windows. I want to set up my computer for dual-booting so that I can choose which operating system to boot up to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, did you request for the free solaris 10 kit? Just wondering I did because I didn't want to go through the trouble of making the cd/dvd. How big is your drive? In my opinion I would at least make a 40gb partition for Solaris 10 and the rest for Windows. Also, I would suggest you just use the partition maker of Solaris 10 which I think makes an ext3 file system. Do you have Windows XP? If you install Windows first and then Solaris 10, Solaris 10 automatically makes adjustments to incorporate Windows and allows you to boot any of those two. If you wanted to have Solaris installed first and then Windows and use the Windows boot menu that takes more work. If you want to know how to do that just reply. Hope the above helps you. Oh yeah Solaris won't overwrite windows if you install if second it just replaces its boot menu.
