Installing a PGX64 card in a E220R running Solaris 8 HELP PLEASE !!!

I am trying to install a PGX64 graphic card in a E 220R running Solaris 8 , the server has a video card in it that works fine but now I have a new PGX64 that I want to install and when I plug one of my monitors into it the screen goes blank and when I plugged a different monitor into the card it said out of range .

I dont know if both monitors are not compatible or the card does not work or because I can not get the drivers and software installed for the card is why im having a problem !!!

I am really over my head now im use to windows based machines DAMN you Microsoft being around that plug and play crap to much makes you SLOW n SPECIAL :-(

I have been typing commands and can not get anything installed Hmmmm I wonder if there is a SUN book for dummies out there ?

did you happen to read this?

http://www.sun.com/products-n-solutions/hardware/docs/pdf/806-6548-11.pdf

that card should just work... but it is only like 8 or 16 meg frame buffer... what type of monitor? LCD? It should work just fine with Solaris 8...

as always, good luck...

My monitors are both LCD Dell's the original card works just fine with my monitors on boot up it says it is a Raptor PGX8 Dont know if that is right , is there a command to edit the the resolution of the card ?

also shouldnt the graphic card know what setting to be on for the monitor that its hooked up to?

As for the software I have no clue how to install anything inside Solaris can it be installed inside the running OS or does everyting have to be at command prompt ?

Thank You for your help once again

Chris
