Sun Fire 280R firmware upgrade

hi,Server: Sun Fire 280ROS: Solaris10 11/06OBP version: 4.5.16In the handbook i see Flash PROM Patch 118323 which upgrades flash to 4.16.4Question:Is it OK to jump from 4.5.x to 4.16.x version of firmware?--mpech

Yes, go right ahead and do it.Each version of an OBP patch includes all the updates and fixesthat were provided in earlier versions.There is no need to flash each one in sequential order.

OBP: 4.18.5

I see several OBP versions for this server in the handbook:

4.22.xx, 4.18.xx. Current OBP version on the server is 4.18.5

What version should I use to upgrade? :/

I can only guess that different "families" of OBP exist

because there are specific functions that can be given for that platform.

For example, the 4.22.x "family" may address RoHS quirks,

while the 4.18.x OBP may never touch such circuitry.

Other OBP's may enable ssh connectivity to RSC/ALOM while

previous ones do not.

Contact Sun's techsupport for a better explanation.

In the meantime, if you are on 4.18.x, then stay with 4.18.x

until the manufacturer guides you to do differently.
