Modify ALOM temp sensors and monitor access

Hello dear Sun community,

I am currently working on a Sunfire V240 machine. I have these two queries:

Is it possible to disable or alter the temperature sensors at the ALOM?

and

When I connect a monitor and a keyboard to the machine, nothing happens. The monitor will simply stay saying that it has no "Signal Input", even when I disconnect the console from the machine. I have even taken the Hard Disks out, cause i thought there may be some issues with them, but it still wont show anything on the monitor. Then, when I connect the console back, the system seems to be running normally. Any suggestions?

Many thanks,

William.

Component temperature threshhold settings?

Quick answer? You can't disable them because you would be

setting the system into a condition where it could be damaged.

That act would void your warranty and your service contract.

It would be construed as deliberate sabotage of the system design.

As for the question of seeing an output to 'screen'

instead of the default output device, for a Sunfire V240?

See this forum thread:

Both of these are from this week.

A forum search on each question would have quickly found them.

thanks for the reply rukbat.

I have managed to get monitor and peripheral access by editing the console.

However, after boot up, i am getting a white screen. and i cant do anything except writing characters from the keyboard. could be hardware compatibilty?

Also, I cant connect with X-win client to the system. And I am getting the following error in the /var/dt/Xerrors file :

Warning: Missing charsets in String to FontSet conversion

Warning: Cannot convert string "-dt-interface system-medium-r-normal-l*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*" to type FontSet

Warning: Missing charsets in String to FontSet conversion

Warning: Unable to load any usable fontset

Warning:

Conversion failed. Cannot load font.

thanks again,

William
