http://docs.sun.com/source/819-0108/UICst.html#wp22408I have followed the To a Add User Defined Directory to Search to the Address (Directory Lookup) Window section to add a customized directory in the user interface. However I still failed to get the result.

I have tried to use other brand of directory as address book. I have tested on eDirectory and eTrust directory. However I failed to use them as address book directory. I have no problem when using Sun direcory for address book. Is there anything I have missed for configuration?

When we test Messaging Server, we only use our own Directory Server. If you elect to attempt to use some other Directory product, you may find it works, and you may find it does not.

We claim that the Messaging Server follows LDAP v3 standards. If your other Directory product also does, it could work. If it does not work, it's up to you to show us that Messaging Server is not properly following the standards.

I suggest looking at your ldap logs, to see what is failing...

For the same LDAP query, I have tried in the LDAP browser, even using an IE, I can get the expected result. However i just failed for the lookup in the messaging server.

I have checked that there are no error log in the directroy server. Does messaging server logs any information for this?

Thanks

How can you be certain it's the exact same query? Our Directory Server has "access" logs that show the query. The access log also shows results. Have you checked those?
