Developing an Application with Java

Dear,

I am assigned to develop an application which should do the following procedure:

Get the XML file from SBC (SAP Business Connector), put it in Access DB (Here, the XML file will be scripted into Access), updating the Queries and put them in 2nd Access DB (via Link Table), and then scripted into XML in order to give it back to SBC to be entered to SAP NetWeaver.

Does anyone have any idea about the platform which is the most appropriate one for this purpose. I mean, which Java Platform (Java J2EE, or Java SE, etc.) is suitable for me that I can get started to programming.
