Matlab ouput used as Java input

Hi and Good day to all.

I am making a project that involves the use of matlab and java. Basically, matlab for computing and java for interfacing. Is it possible for java to accept outputs from matlab and use it as inputs in java? We are going to make a simulation and we are required to use matlab.
