Sun Java Application Server 9 Won't Start after Installation

I have successfully installed sjsas_pe-9_0_01-windows-ml

However, when I try to start up the default server from Windows or NetBeans 5.5, the server won't start. The following is the domain1 log:

Does anyone know what's wrong and how to fix it? Thanks

I just posted exactly the same problem in the Sun SDK forum. If I hear anything there I'll let you know.Out of curiosity, what version of Windows are you using? I am using Vista, and thought that might be the problem.

i managed to resolve the problem that i faced. it was actually caused by McAfee Security Center v7.2. You need to disable McAfee Redirector Service (win xp services) before starting the server.

Thank you, that was the problem on my system as well. Do you know what the redirector service is? Should I just disable it completely?

I have the same problem. However my anti-virus is Norton Coporate addition. I have not seen a renaming service in my task manager. Is this where I am supposed to be looking?

Hi,

Yes, you should see the service listed under Task Manager / Services.

The name of the service, by the way, is (McAfee) redirector service.

You might want to temporarily turn off all services installed by your virus scan software and see if that helps. To start or stop services, go to Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services; any services you stop should come back up again when you reboot unless you explicitly tell Windows to start up manually only).

Good luck!

Yes I too have norton virus protection. I have looked in the task manager and can't find redirector service that you mention. Has anyone with Norton managed to solve this problem.
