Ultra 20 M2 Serial Port.

Hi all,

I am a bit disapointed with my new Ultra 20 M2.

A requirement for serial communications has just come up in my job. I use the U20 almost exclusively for my work and when I had a quick look I noticed that Solaris 10 said the system had serial port. So does the BIOS. I can see the COM port header on the motherboard and yet it is not connected to anything.

If anyone can tell me where I could get a compatible DB9 shell and cable for the SYS_COM header on the motherboard or even pinout details for it, I would be very appretiative.

Regards

Randall.

Perhaps something like this serial header cable with bracket?

(be patient, that California company's site is occasionally busy)

I own, perhaps three or four such widgets from ye olde 80486 days,

when every I/O connection was from an ISA adapter card

and nothing was integrated onto a systemboard but the soldered cpu module.

I jealously guard mine in the off chance I may ever need one.

A Google search on "serial header cable with bracket"

can likely find a vendor close to your location.
