Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths...

A few days back I began getting a lot of errors on pages using Java so I tried to upgrade to jre-1_5_0_11-windows-i586-p-s.exe. Because the online upgrade was not working, I downloaded the offline one and ran it. I have received this message...

Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.

I have unistalled the old version and ran Windows Install Clean-up as suggested. I could not find any futher reference to Java or JRE. I tried running the install again and same error.

Suggestions?

PC, Win XP SP2, 2GB RAM, P4, everything well within specs.

I appreciate any help, Gary

Running the offline install has same issues from time to time.

the installshield exe is not extracting a copy of the 1033.mst file to the %PROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\{7148F0A6-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142140} folder. if you create the folder structure and place the 1033.mst file before execution of the .exe, yor errors should go away.
