To install SMC in non-global zones you need to have them either inherit /opt when initally configured or add /opt as a lofs afterwards. Ocne SMC is installed in the global zone you then need to run es-setup -z zonename from the globalzone and es-setup in the non-global zone.

I did inherit opt on the creation of my zone and smc works in my global zone. Is es-setup a script somewhere? I can't find it to run.

es-setup is in /opt/SUNWsymon/sbin/Setting up SMC in a zone is fully documented in Sun's SMC documentation.

Hi guys,

I've got SMC running in a zone, first you need a whole zone. Install everything in the zone don't worry about the loopback or lofi.

If you need a how to then let me know. Just installing it isn't all the work, only today we can across another problem falling back on SMC in a zone. That's why I'm here.

Here's the problem.

We can't get a relayable communication to our Server in the DMZ.

We have IPMP on almost all our server.

The SMC sends out the commands over the IP from the zone. This goes out from the Global zone and the response comes back on a different IP to the Global zone and the response can't get to the zone.
