monitoring host across router

Hi,

does enybody knows if there is a known problem in monitoring hosts across router with SMC 3.6 (solaris 10)?

I have many machines under monitoring on one subnet (server and agent on the same subnet) and this works fine, but when I try to add an object that is on another subnet I have the error message:

Cannot find processes. Please check host/Port.

The agent is running on the client host

No firewall in the middle, and the router allowed traffic on the port I use for SMC agent.

We experienced no problems with a large subnetted network But can the agent and the sunmc server host find each other (ping) ?Is this a clean install on the agent ?

Hi,yes the machine can communicate correctly (ping, traceroute, rcp).The agent installation is the same I follow for other machines of the same type.I try also to reinstall the agent but nothing is changed.

Is it an agent in a local zone?Make sure the hostname/interface is mentioned in /etc/hosts.Do you have multiple interfaces?

what is strange is that the machine is configured as the others V440 I have. Host/ipnodes file correctly set, mask and so on other application are working fine.ThanksChristian

I have agents scattered over all different subnets with out issue. Try to telnet from the smcserver to the agent on the port the smcagent is using, most likely 161 or 1161. I'm guessing there is something on your network like a firewall or ACL blocking SNMP traffic or one server is misconfigured.
