Sun Cluster/Solaris Frustration
Hi
I need a version of Sun Cluster I can download that will work with 6/06 Sparc out of the box, is this available? I downloaded 11/06 and the image came out all screwey.. dont want to spend 5 hrs downloading again for another bad DVD..
I have heard 3.1 works with 6/06, but the SC 3.1 that came with our 3/05 Solaris 10 CD only has versions for 2.8 and 2.9 and the scinstall on 2.9 specifically says it wont work on 2.10. Is this really supposed to be this difficult? or is there a way to force 3.2 to work with 2.10 6/06? I have wasted a ridiculous amount of time on this already... HELP!
I need ZFS support in the cluster so I cannot fall back to a pre- 6/06 OS

Hi,
you have 2 choices:
a) If you need ZFS support there is no other choice than going with SC3.2 and Solaris 10 11/06.
b) If you want a Sun Cluster release that works with older Solaris releases you can go with SC3.1 8/05 and download it at https://www.sun.com/software/swportfolio/get.jsp
and click on Java Availability Suite. This should lead you to the 3.1 version.
BTW, there is a nice short description on how to setup a 2-node cluster at
http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/howtoguides/twonodecluster.jsp

FWIW: To install Sun Cluster 3.1 8/05 (Update 4), be sure to use the JES Installer (installer) instead of scinstall. Same with Solaris Cluster 3.2.Agree that if you want ZFS supported in your cluster, you have to stick to SC3.2 and Solaris 10 11/06.

Ill try 3.1 8/05 for the time being... I want to upgrade to 11/06, but I JUST upgraded our systems to 6/06... it is really a pain to keep updating every couple of months... I am using ZFS,only in the sense that I have a container running sybase on top of a ZFS.. I want the 11/06 features, but its too much trouble to download.. my last 2 dl's ended up with corrupted DVD images
