Remote GUI

Hi Everyone,

I am new to sun and solaris 10, not new to linux however. Basically, I have my sun server running, and its connected to my computer using the console port, I use terraterm to use it. I installed it find, everything seamed to go ok. Trouble is, now I boot, I then login, and it says

sunfileserv console login: root

Now at # I can ls and so forth, but what I want is a gui. There is no GPU in the sun server, so is there a way to use the GUI remotly. I have an XP machine here. If you think about Win server 2003 which I have running, its just connected to the network ,and I use RDC to connct to it, and use the GUI, how can I do this with a sun server.

Thank you for your time,

Chris

If I understand correctly, You want to start Xterminal (GUI) on Windows platform and connect&work on Solaris machine.

There is whole lot of Xterminal emulators for Win. I use (since about 10 years) commercial XWin-32 by Starnet. Starnet offers full-featured demo version with session time limit of 30 minutes (older demo version limit - 2 hours). This product of Starnet connects correctly to Solaris and Linux servers. In the case of Solaris, minor correction of XServer config file is necessary. The Starnet people know the recipe.
