Problem with Solaris 10 installation over Linux OS

I am totally new to Solaris. I have downloaded the 5 installation disks for Solaris 10 11/06 X86 and burned the CDs to do the installation. I want to install over a RedHat Linux 4 OS. However, when I boot the machine with the first Solaris 10 CD in the CD drive, the system still boots with the Linux OS. The BIOS is set to boot from the CD first and it works with other bootable CDs. Have I missed an installation disk? It seams that I am following the installation doccumentation.

Thanks,

Bad boot CD? Try burning a fresh copy?Sounds like you're doing everything right.

Hi!

I had the same problem when I downloaded Solaris 10 x86 first. After I wasted a few DVDs and CDs I did some researches. My problem was around the disc writing mode I used. I used Session At Once in K3B, whereas one should burn the discs using Tratck At Once mode to make a valid, bootable Solaris install medium.

(Please do not trust me, I could be wrong about SAO/TAO mode, you should do some researches yourself couse there still is a chance I mix things up... it happens)

Best Regards,

G.
