The V240 is a server system and it needs firmware configuration paramter changed to boot into graphics mode. Access the system through the serial port and check the configuration eg. printenv output-device.

Do you have a keyboard attached? Without a full console, all output goes to ttya (default, could be setup differently in OBP).

Thank you for all the information,

Instead by using the console to change the output-device go to ttya at OBP, Is there any other way of doing it?

I did some googling, information is once you manage to telnet in to the system, as a root.

#eeprom output-device=screen

#eeprom input-device=keyboard

Will this help.? Setting will be permanently, right?

Regard

Dunstan

Here is the product link to the V240 in the Sun System Handbook:

http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/SunFireV240/SunFireV240.html

Find the "Related Documentation" link on that page.

It will take you to ALL the manuals you'd ever want for that platform.

This next link is the OBP 4.x Command Reference Manual.

Your V240 happens to have a 4th generation OBP in it.
