memory swap v440 to v880

Hi

Would anyone know if I can relocate memory from a v440 to a v880? I have 20GB (in 512GB DIMMs) worth of memory in a v440 and would like to use them in a v880. And is there anywhere on the Sun site that i can look look up this kind of compatability? I couldn't find anything...

I found http://www.sun.com/spares/partslisting/servers/firev880.html but doesn't give memory details...

cheers

Hello,

Would anyone know if I can relocate memory from a v440 to a v880?

Short answer: no.

They (V880, V440) use completely different types of memory (SDRAM, DDR). They won't even physically fit (232 Pin, 184 Pin).

With a SunSolve account, you can review the more detailed (private) Sun System Handbook (SSH). Without an account just compare the part numbers in the public SSH.
