PLOGI errors & warnings since firmware upgrade on Brocade Director 48000

Hi there,

I have a SFE25K with several domains. Some domains with Solaris 9 and others with Solaris 10. They have ISP2312 HBAs with firmware from 1.14.09 to 1.14.15, these are connected to a Director 4800 with the following version info:

Kernel:2.4.19

Fabric OS: v5.1.0d

Made on:Tue Aug 8 18:35:50 2006

Flash:Thu Nov 23 23:17:35 2006

BootProm:4.5.3

The firmware on the switch was recently upgraded without rebooting the switch.

/var/adm/messages on all domains record these messages every half hour:

Feb 15 13:23:39 myhost fp: [ID 517869 kern.info] NOTICE: fp(0): PLOGI to 610c13 failed state=Timeout, reason=Hardware Error

In addition, every time we attach a new fiber from the hba to the switch in order to get new disk or tape devices, Solaris does not detect anything until a reconfiguration reboot (reboot -- -r). We tried cfgadm -c configure <dev>, luxadm -e forcelip <dev>, with not success.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Use your service contract.

Open a support case with Sun.

http://www.sun.com/secure/contact/

These forums are not techsupport.

Don't trust the operation of such expensive enterprise class systems

to what some anonymous person tells you in a forum on the Internet.

The forums are for user-to-user discussions.

There is no guarantee on knowledge or experience levels.

(there are some extremely skilled contributors to these discussions,

but there are many novice contributors as well)

If you follow the advice on what someone says here,

and they are mistaken or incomplete in their advice...

You tell your employer: "But those people in the forum told me to do this ..."

Then you will need to go and re-write your resume.

Contact Sun.

Direct techsupport has accountability.

That is why you have that service contract.

With a SF25K in the building, you likely have

an assigned SSE on your account. They may even have

permanent residence in your building.Draw upon their skills and advice.

You are all the way right, nonsense to rely on what someone on internet can say. We are using the SSE now. Thank you.

What's the situation with getting a sticky thread to deal with Midrange to Highend systems. It gets a bit boring seeing the same type of threads appearing over and over. I'd also like to post a sticky for storage issues that keep coming up, anyone have any contact with the moderator for these boards?
