SGD 4.3 actually supports Vista as a client device with IE 7.Unfortunately, SGD 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 were released way before Vista was available, so they do not support Vista.

Carmelo,

thanks for taking the time to get back to me and for the above pointers.

I've a customer with existing SSGD installations who had some client PCs upgraded to Vista; they're accessing SSGD mainly to have access to Unix/XWindows applications and not Windows one.

I've been told that Vista users are actually able to have applications depicted on the screen but the printing mechanism (follow-me from a Unix/Solaris box) does not work.

Again, I've yet to investigate this issue but if you know about a way to make Vista "compatible" with previous version of SSGD (namely, 4.1 and 4.2) I'd be interested to know.

Thanks again,

Roberto

are they using Vista Business? I suspect that you have already modifed the archives.txt to allow the jpsjar to be used with IE7? What JVM version are they using?

As for printing, what are the symptoms? what exactly does not work? do they not get the green print icon in webtop? Where does printing fail, Tier 2 or Tier 3? Any logs?
