#1 - J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 and updates

I have WinXP desktop...under add/remove programs are listed the original J2SE Runtime Environmt 5.0, plus updates 5, 6, 9, 10 & 11 [the original 5.0 version uses 118MB of space, while each of the updated versions (5,6,9,10,11) use 120MB of space]. I am trying to retrieve disk space for my overtaxed C: drive. I rarely used these updates before, but I may need program in the future. Do I need to keep the basic 5.0 and the latest update #11 to keep operating system running properly? Or, can I delete the original 5.0 and all the updates except for #11? Please let me know ASAP...my computer is not working properly and I need immediate quality help.
