How to set the classpath of xml jar files ?

i have downloaded the package xerces-2_9_0.. can anybody tell me a permanant way to set the classpath for the xerces jar files..
The easiest and most disapproved way would be to dump it in the lib/ext directory of your JRE.Everything else depends on your OS and how you build your projects .
