integrating 3d models ?

Hi to all,

Is it possible to integrate 3d model (ie. from 3dmax) with java application?

Idea is to load model and view it, rotate, zoom, etc... Would that work on Win and *NIX systems?

Since I'm only contemplating the idea and I'm interested into cross-platform compatibility, I'd like to know if Java gots what it takes to make to job done.
