converting to .tar

I don't know if this is the right file for this, but there was no "Eclipse" forum under Java tools. I'm trying to convert the files to a .tar format. As said before, I'm using Eclipse. Can anyone help? Thank you.

Er, well, I don't need Eclipse to convert to a .tar, but I thought an IDE does that for you. There's another way? And I'm using Windows XP.

It might, but if I needed to open a .tar, my first thought is not to use an IDE.Winzip will do it. There are other programs that will for windows as well.
