Vacation message for forwarded mails

Hi All

imsimta version:

Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.2 (built Dec 2 2004) libimta.so 6.2 (built 00:34:23, Dec 2 2004) SunOS myhost 5.9 Generic_118558-30 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V890

Is it possible to configure SJMS to send vacation message for forwarded mails?

For example;

user1 sets a vacation message.

user2 sets forwarding address as "user1@mydomain.com"

a gmail user sends a mail at user1@mydomain.com and gets the vacation message.

when gmail user sends a mail at user2@mydomain.com, the mail gets forwarded to user1@mydomain.com. But gmail user doesn抰 get any vacation message from user1@mydomain.com.

Can anyone shed some light?

Well, no.

User1 gets a message from user2. That's where the vacation message goes. Even though the gmail user's message gets forwarded by user2. How would Messaging Server know to send the vacation message to the gmail user, when the message didn't come to user1 from him?

Perhaps you might want t re-think the forwarding part of your setup, if vacation is needed. I don't know what you're trying to achieve, but what you ask for is not possible with any mail server.
