Restricted Access Documentation

Hi people

Has anyone else run into the problem of not being able to access critical documentation?

I am trying to setup Messaging Server and Instant Messaging Server. I find

pointers to documentation that seem to exactly fit what I am trying to do. I get

very excited; Sun documentation is of high standard, so these documents should

be just right. Unfortunately, in place of the desired documentation, I get the

following message:

Restricted Access

The book that you have requested is restricted. Enter the access password below.

Once authorized, you will be allowed to read all books that have the same

password. These are generally the books that make up the same collection.

If you close your web browser, you may need to supply the password again.

Normally, this kind of thing, while annoying, is not much of a problem. You just

follow the instructions on the page, jump through the hoops, and voila, you are

in. But in this case, there is NO indication on the page of how one would go

about getting access. None.

The 'buy this book' link is greyed out. "Send comments" link is a broken link.

"Send comments about the sun website", a form way back off the main page, is

also broken. Ok, ok, I give up. It is an intelligence test, and I fail. Please, could

you tell me the answer?

My phone call, followed by an email to main sun support is yet unanswered. My

email to ISV support is also yet unanswered. I feel like I have stumbled on a

conspiracy. My friends and muse, "what is in these documents?" Are they really

badly written, or what?

So, fellow geeks, please be kind and send me the password. My email is

d.wollersheim@latrobe.edu.au, or, you could do us all a favor by posting it here.

Or at the very least, please explain how it I could access these documents. \

I am looking for the documents behind these locked doors:

http://docs.sun.com/app/secure/doc/820-0086?a=load

http://docs.sun.com/app/secure/doc/819-4439?a=load

http://docs.sun.com/app/secure/doc/819-7560?a=load

http://docs.sun.com/app/secure/doc/819-4432?a=load

That is doc #'s 820-0086, 819-4439, 819-7560 and 819-4432. Also, if you have

such docs on your disk somewhere, you might take pity and send them to me.

Thanks

Dennis

I think it depends on the version you are going to use.The documentation on JES 2005Q4 should be available ondocs.sun.com portal http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/prod/entsys.05q4#hic

Agreed. It's likely you're trying to look at documentation for the unreleased version. 2005Q4 is the latest released version, and you should have no difficulty getting to that documentation.

The documents that you refer to are part of the to-be-released-soon 2006Q4 release (aka comm suite 5). The reason they are password protected is that they refer to a product that isn't available and they are not the final editions of the manuals (they are still beta versions - beta users were provided with the password).

As was noted in the followup posting, you can access the 2005Q4 documentation.

Regards,

Shane.
