Any word on the new release?

I've been hearing "next few weeks" for the past month. ;) *Poke poke Jay*. Just curious if the release date has gotten any more concrete in the past few weeks. Thanks!David

"Real Soon, Now".Honestly, even if I had a tentative release date, I couldn't give it publically. It's due out "early this year".I imagine we'll have something in the next several weeks. The phrase, "a few weeks", can mean up to 10, in my somewhat confused brain, and that's not a promise that you'll see the new comms released 10 weeks from the first time I said, "a few weeks".

So my question on the "new release" is based on the fact that i have done all my testing and am now poised to upgrade my production system to the latest JES msg version.

Q: will there be major differences between Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.2-7.05 (built Sep 5 2006)and the upcomming release ? Or is the new release just a full version of the changes provided in the 6.2-7.05 patch ?

Q: can I assume that if I am running 6.2-7.05 that there will then be a patch released to bring this version up to date with the new release? I believe Shane mentioned this would be the case .

thanks-john

The new release is exactly that, a new release. It's not 6.2-7 or -8. It's 6.3.

That includes a new webmail setup, reportedly CE now runs via imap, instead of via http.

Expect the MTA to be pretty much the same.

Expect the store to be pretty much the same. Some performance enhancements.

Directory 6.0 will be bundled with 6.3. The Directory Console is gone. Delegated Admin has been enhanced. How far? I dunno.

That's been the plan. I haven't heard anything to the contrary.

Historically, it's been several patches, including some for "shared componants", Messaging core, DA, dssetup, CE, etc.
