i don't have java in my system and want to install jdk to run programs

my system has 2.66 ghz with 240 mb of ram using windows xp edition which software suits my system to run program on my system.tell me plz

If you want to run programs then jre but if you want to develop programs then jdk.

...and that's the reason that I doubt the 240 MB of RAM. It's probably 256 or more. He might also be talking about disk space free or size of hard disk in GB.

My computer from awhile ago had 128MB with Windows XP home. 2.66ghz processor seems way too fast for 256 RAM to me, but I don't know too much about that.

@OP: Just download the JRE.

Well he could have a video card or graphics card that shares 16MB of RAM out of his 256MB, leaving him with 240MB. I remember a friend of mine had something weird like that happening.
