MAIL MERGE PROTOTYPE

I have been trying to design a prototype for a mail merge module.

Though I have been working on some ideas,but nothing substantial has come into picture.

It is a client server based model,and a module of mail merge has to be integrated in the software.

Can any one help,with any idea about how to go about it.

The general requirements are :

1>java platform

2>open source products to be used

3>operations mostly on server side.

4>xml

It will be life saving ,if you could help me with this.
