Active Sync processes will not start
Howdy folks,
We are keeping a lot of information in an LDAP directory. I have established resources for several different types of entries in the directory. I configured Active Sync for these resources. In the past, I have seen them all run individually. Now, most of them will run, but some will NEVER start running, regardless of how many times I start them or reboot tomcat. Has anyone experienced this behavior before? Does anyone have any advice on the best way to troubleshoot this?
Thanks,
Jim

OK, so after doing a little querying on the forum, I found some old posts that had suggested checking out the SARunner tasks, and possibly manipulating some of their data. So I started poking around, and I can't find any SARunner tasks for these resources. The active sync status on one of the resources claims to be currently executing, but there is no SARunner tasks for it. Two other active sync processes will not start, and they also have no SARunner tasks...
Any idea how to get these back?

Hi Jim,
I once had a similar problem with Activesync not starting.
I recreated the resource instance (under Resoure-type Actions, click new resource). I configured it to the same settings as the original and then deleted the original. This worked, although I never found out what was the underlying problem. I would suggest exporting the old resource before you do, so you can compare new and old. Sorry, that is all I know.

John,
I think the method you suggest should take care of the issue. My understanding is that the task instances of the SARunners associated with the resources are corrupted. I haven't been able to verify this on my installation, but from reading other forum entries, and looking at the symtoms, it's the conclusion I have come to. What you suggest would create new tasks that are not yet corrupted.
I'll be trying it,
Jim

OK, Problem....I can't delete the resources that have stopped... I get an error that says "The 'Delete Resource Object' action was not valid for one or more of the selections." This doesn't really help at all... Back to the drawing board...

Jim,Can you delete it via the console? The delete command has a -force option, although I'm not sure what that actually does.Anyway, just a thought.I would export everthing via the console before you do though, just in case...John I

I was able to delete it from the GUI after all. I was trying to delete it using the 'delete resource object' action in the middle drop down. It would not let me delete it that way. But, using the 'Delete' option in the far left drop down was allowed. Seems a bit confusing :)
