How to measure JAVA class performance?

Hi

I got two java classes running in two PCs. They talk to each other over HTTP or any other protocol over specific socket. Now I want to measure how much data they exchanged between them and how long it takes. I measured them with Ethereal.

Now I would also like to measure how much CPU cycle it requires for each JAVA classes to execute a function, how much memory each java classes consumes (I took it from windows task-manager), how much bandwidth they consume while exchanging messages?

So CPU cycle and Bandwidth is now I need to measure. Would like to know how?

Take care

Hi there thanks for your reply

By the way, I am running my codes from command prompt and want it to be independent of any IDE.

Then, both my PCs are dell. Thus I want some solution from windows xp or from java classes itself or third party tools like Ethereal which will measure anything by being out of the process.

Thanks again

Arif.

my pcs are a microstar, one self built and a toshiba laptop.

Especially then laptop performs really well.

All 3 PCs run Linux, because I dislike Windows.

I would like to use an IDE because it is integrated. That is very fine.

I also like the command promt. Its very cool :-)

by the way I want curt cobain to be alive again and Lamb of God should release an Album in the style of "Ashes of the wake" because "Sacrament" wasn't that good in my opinion.

Last but not least a great advantage is if someone is able to use google. You should try it - its quite helpful and you do not have to ask three times the same stuff in forums.

Best whishes to you (India?), lg Clemens
