Cobalt RaQ 550 .htaccess problems

Hi,

For some time, I have been trying to get a .htaccess file up and running on a Cobalt RaQ 550. The .htaccess file contains a load of commands for mod_rewrite. However, the server keeps on returning error 500 (Internal Server Error). Is there something that I should do differently from the standard htaccess rewrite commands?
