11/06 Can't get a good burn.

downloaded files are ok.

DVD drive is ok.

With the last version I burnt about a year ago I can browse the files on XP, this DVD still boots on my Ultra60.

I have tried so many combinations of burning [11/06] and none are working.

Is sparc DVD 11/06 broken?

Has anyone got it to work?

If so with what burn settings?

BTW: Using same batch of DVDs as before, same pc, same burner etc.

Does the name you give the disc effect it?

Any help would be very helpful as I'm ready to set fire to the machine.

Could this be what you were referring to ?

"Solaris Operating System - Download and Burning Instructions"

http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/download_instruction.xml

Consider glancing through these other two links, as well:

http://72.5.124.61/software/solaris/howtoguides/installationhowto.jsp

( though that one is oriented toward x86 systems )

... and ...

http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-0544/

( the Basic Installation Guide, from Docs.Sun.Com )

Nope, those links do not tell you about burning the actual disc. I know how to install, thats not whats being asked.

To be precise.....the disc's that I am burning are no good, I know this.

I also know about diferent types of disc etc.

What I don't know is what settings for burning a bootable solaris.

Character Set ISO9660 errr maybe.

Do the ISO settings need to be relaxed?

Filename length ISO1 or ISO2?

Joliet?

Thanks for your help anyhoo :)

Sorry,Can't help. I've never experienced what you're describing.Whenever I needed to create the disks, I just put the ISO on my WinDoze box and just double-clicked the file.Roxio took over and wrote it to the media. It just worked.

From your last post you mentioned ISO1 ISO2....Have you unzipped and combined the ISO1 ISO2 ISO3 ISO4....etc together to create a single ISO file?from the command prompt of the doze machine use the following command:copy /b ISO1 + ISO2 [+ ISON] MASTER.iso

Sorry for the basic debugging question, but when you put the DVD into a running system (Solaris or Windows), does it mount any filesystems? If so, what does it look like? Also can you confirm that you used an option that will burn an existing ISO image onto a DVD?-- Alan
