Apache x86 Cluster Agent?

Does anybody know how to create a HA Apache resource on an x86 SC 3.1? There doesn't appear to be an Apache HA cluster agent on the agents CD, but the howto guide on the Sun site clearly states to insert the Sun Cluster Agent CDROM and install the agent from here.

Is this agent available on a previous version of the Sun Cluster Agents CDROM?

Thanks,

Pete

AFAIK there was never an HA Apache data service from Sun on SC 3.1 x86 with any update. My guess is that if a howto guide talks about the apache agent, its about the sparc platform.

So you have two choices:

1) If you need to stick on SC 3.1 x86, create an apache dataservice on your own using SUNW.gds through the scdsbuilder.

2) If you can switch to Sun Cluster 3.2 (just released before christmas), it will come with a fully supported apache data service on x86 and there you will find it on the agents cdrom for 3.2. You can download it via the Sun download center:

http://www.sun.com/download/products.xml?id=4581ab9e

If you can I would advice to take 2). Especially on x86 there will be only benefits. Note that you will then also need Solaris 10 11/06 (update 3).

Can I safely upgrade my base Solaris OS to the release you mentioned, as well as upgrade the cluster? Or do I need to create a new cluster and migrate the databases across? Thanks for the info,Pete

Hi Pete,You can do both OS and cluster upgrade using the upgrade procedures available in 3.2. The choice of upgrade procedure depends on your needs.
