Solaris 10 + ZFS + ATA over ethernet

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone on here has tried combining AoE (ATA over Ethernet) with ZFS on a sparc solaris 10 server?

I was wondering if I could simplify my installation by plugging in a Coraid shelf (SR1520 - http://www.coraid.com/pdfs/datasheets/EtherDriveSR1520.pdf) directly to an open Gig-E port on my v440 then set up a massive ZFS pool?

The frames would obviously travel on a private lan so there'd be no contention with a busy switch. My organization needs easy to manage, LARGE storage. Speed is not too critical in my organization.

Thanks,

Phil

I'm not aware of AoE drivers on Solaris. As long as it behaves like a disk down at the driver level, I don't know any reason that the ZFS stuff wouldn't use it.Now if it could do iSCSI, then it should work.-- Darren

ZFS + AOE, worked for me with a small change in AOE for Solaris (aoe-1.3.1). for details have a look at: http://blogs.sun.com/koushik/entry/zfs_over_aoe :-)
