Sun v240Server Install

Hello, I have inherited a SunFire v240 server with Solaris 9 running on it. I'm trying to install Solaris 10 on this machine via terminal connection. However, I have been unsuccessfully at my attempts. I have booted the machine into single user mode and tried changing the root password but that still did not allow me to access the system. What would be the process for performing the STOP A key sequence using hyperterminal or should another terminal program be used? Also any information on how to perform install via terminal session would be very helpful. Still learning some of the Sun hardware so I apolgize if any information has been left out but could really use some help.
