Problems with removing older version of J2SE
Hey all, thought I might get some advice... seems I've caused some problems with my computer's functioning by removing an older version of Java.
A while ago, I was cleaning up my computer, trying to free up some space on my HD, and noticed I had 2 J2SE updates installed, 4 and 9. I'm not an expert on computers, but I figured if I had both versions, I could get rid of the older one, and so I did.
That's when the problems started: Windows Media Player stopped working, giving me an "internal application error" when I tried to start it, (don't know if this has anything to do with Java, could have been another blunder I made in the process). Absolutely NO javascript links work properly in my browser, and, for example, when I try to view YouTube media, I get the message "You must have Java Script turned off or an older version of Flash player..." Anyways, I've tried re-installing Java, and now have J2SE update #10 running on my computer, and after installing when it prompted me to test if it is working, it seemed everything was fine.
Is this a problem with Java, or IE? I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2, IE 5, J2SE #10 ... any theories? As I said before, I'm not an expert on computers, but I'm not hopeless, so if you want to tell me to update my registry or whatever it might be, feel free to tell me *how*.
Any help with this would be appreciated, thanks.
