DST2007 Update Utility - globally update all windows machines?

At our company we have many installations of JRE. On one machine we may have both DST compliant versions and non-DST compliant versions (don't ask - we could never consolidate JRE's to one version due to many different 3rd party apps we use and our developers use).

I have created a script to run the updater tool on all versions of JREs installed. I had hoped the utility wouldn't change already compliant versions, but it appears that it does..... it actually down-revs the files.

Does anyone know if there is a way to run the updater tool globally without affecting compliant versions? We have thousands of machines and it would be nearly impossible to test updating all versions of JRE to a compliant one, and it would be too difficult to single out all non-compliant versions.

Any info greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Please don't also forget to patch the underlying operating system. For patching of both supported and unsupported versions of Microsoft Windows including NT4, Windows 2000 Pro, Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003, (and YES Windows Vista too despite what you might have heard), there is a utility available at http://www.sharpebusinesssolutions.com/dst2007.htm that can handle the required OS patches. This tool should be use on all of your Windows clients and servers worldwide. The tool handles all service pack levels of each operating system platform mentioned above.
