And the text on Amazon would be untrustworthy?
I don't think you "quest for knowledge" will go that far if you don't start looking things up for yourself.

Well i always try my best to do things myself. But the book store(sapna) didn't offer any reviews which i was expecting from them. And there is no better person to ask than the person who has read it,and i knew that ceci has been reading that.I am not sure about the reviews in amazon. But i always try to avoid the reviews put up by the websites. For financial gains they can either defame or eulogize that book irrespective of it's quality.Keeping all these things in perspective i felt it a good idea to get some serious reviews. If catch dcminter i will ask him.
However the book by java from joshua bloch is Jos right?

But we were all bribed by Dave to give it glowing reviews! He'd only trade unknown advise for decidedly bad advise.

In the light of the success of all these "dummies" and "<insert buzzword here> made easy" books, I'm considering launching a series of "<insert buzzword here> made more difficult" books. would you consider contributing?

Brilliant, George. I can see the cover now: "I Can Do X; You Cannot."There's a picture of the author on the cover, looking smug and uppity.

:-) Should make a killing, I reckon. I was going to start off with "64-bit Assembler for Show-offs", but I don't know how :-(
smug and uppity author on the cover? I take it you've been reading the "thinly-veiled adverts for Spring" series by Rod Johnson.....

I'll bet there's someone here on the forum who would be quite happy to show just how ignorant you are.

not at all! as far as boastful and egotistical authors go, I think he veers more to the "deservedly so" side. but his books are adverts for both Spring and the book that came before

After all all of us are humans(except the ducklings around). The above was just a casual comment. It's foolishness to justify anything.
