Or I moonlight as a fry chef.
Shouldn't the boiler be covered under some sort of warranty?

It seems to be just a pressure switch. So, we don't have to replace the whole boiler. Most parts have a one-year warranty (so, that includes this switch). The heat exchanger is covered with a limited lifetime warranty (no charge for first 10 years, then prorated).
I just got a new mattress, ?50 + free 5year warranty. No idea what can go wrong with it! It's one of those foam ones, no springs.
Just so you know, I built the frame myself with some nice meranti hardwood. Finished with danish oil. I'm not just a java ace (i have high opinions of myself) but a freelance carpenter too!
Ted.
