SCJP for Java SE 6 ?

i would like to do the SCJP certification for Java SE.

Now it's avaialable just the SCJP for Java SE 5, but since the SE 6 is coming out, i think that is better to wait and get the SCJP for SE 6..

Do you think that waiting, is the right choice?

In your opinion when will be active the new exams for SCJP Java SE 6?

thank you very much!!

The forums are not (actively) monitored by people from Sun. I suggest contacting your local Sun Training office about this:

Good luck.

I think that my resume is not so bad, i have a MS in computer engineering, 3 years of exp on PHP and 1 year on Coldfusion.

I have also some experience with Java SE and i studied it on software engineering course on university..

I want to move to Java EE technologies (because i think that Java EE and .NET are the future of web development) , and i'm reading some books about it.

I would like to move to london to learn english (now i live in Italy) so i think that a SJCP can be useful in a foreign country to certify that i'm a not so bad programmer :)

Thanks for your help.

The SCJP is most important for entry level Java coding jobs. To sport the latest version will give you an edge (if the SCJP is considered at all).

Normally with your education and experience you wouldn't be looking for a newbie job. At your level you should be able to show design proficiency rather than the syntax skills the SCJP tests. Do you know about design patterns?

But to get a job in London you may be prepared to accept any job and then the SCJP probably will be an advantage. An alternative, which I think is good, is to look for a position in an Italian company with openings abroad.

You'll probably be waiting a LONG time though. There are no relevant changes in any of the areas tested by the SCJP exam large enough to warrant an update to the exam.

I suppose that a certification for version 1.6 will include both the new things of java SE 6 and all the big stuff from the previous versions :)

I wouldn't suppose any such thing. I'd look it up
