notification/alert mail

hello everybody. i really need your help

i am writing java coding using J2EE 1.3. my server is linux but my user use window xp as operating system.

i want to develop a module in my system to send notification mail. the scenario is; user fill up the particular in my system including date of birth. then on their birthday date, my system will automaticly sent email to wish happy birthday. by comparing the current date and birth date in the database. i had read the JMS tutorial, but still dont know how to do it. if any one here had develop the system similar to me please help me.

my dateline is killing me....please help me.
