connect Windows laptop to Solaris 9 Ultra 10

Hi there,

I would like to make my windows laptop pc communicating with a Solaris9/Ultra 10 through a crossover cable. I tried to connect assigning a static IP to both of them but with no chance as the laptop detects something through the port but nothing else. ping also does not work on both although the cross cable is already been tested along with the ethernet interface, which works fine if connected to a LAN.

Do you know anything special that has to be done? I just need to transfer some data between them .....

Thank you so much

Hello.

1) What is the Windows IP configuration?

You'll get this information by typingipconfig /all

on the command prompt.

2) What is the Solaris IP configuration?

This is the output of the command ifconfig -a

(Note: The Windows command is ipconfig, the Solaris command is ifconfig.)

3) Are you sure the cable is a crossover cable and not a straight-through cable?
