solaris containers + sun ray server

just some theoretical question...would it be possible to put a sun-ray session into a solaris container, stop it, move it to some other machine, and restart it there?never played with containers and maybe i am compleatly wrong here...

no, this is not possible; also, runnings srss in one solaris container is also not supported

(no dhcp available in the container stuff).

but it would be possible to use CAM + some kind of selfwritten script to remote

connect to a X11 server running in the container via xdmcp. srss stays in the

global zone.

well, i'd say that dhcp is not an issue. i am running srss without local dhcp and the clients in some other networks using other ip's/dhcp (i know -- unsupported config, but it has it's advantages).

i've just read some docs about containers, and it seems, since opensolaris b36 it is possible to stop containers and restart them on some other node... but it seems that patchlevels and kernel needs to be the same... ...so it would *not* be possible to move container+srss, update server A, move container back and update server B.

may you explain, in more detail, the CAM idea?

Has anyone watching this thread found a way to make srss in zones happen? I proposed a virtual desktop scheme to some folks and got some bites, but the functionality isn't there yet. Is there a way I can hack it together to do a prototype demo until this functionality is officially
