Host not Responding Alarm on 3.6.1

I am upgrading our smc from 3.5 to 3.6.1.Normally when we reboot the server(Any server with sunmc agent) on 3.5 version I will get the alert like this 摂敂擨ndeterminate: sunmc1 Topology Manager AMS-RPT1 Entity Status Host amsrpt1 not responding敂?br>

But I am not getting any alert (host not responding alarm) like this in 3.6.1. Anyone having this problem?

SunMC checks to see if your hosts/Agents are up using ICMP/SNMP pings every 5 minutes... so if you're doing reboots, and the system manages to come back within that interval, you won't see a black/down alarm.

It it's been more than 5 minutes, and there's still no alarm, then you can check to see if you topology process has even detected a problem. Make a new Agent icon for your SunMC Server, but using port 164 instead of 161. When you double-click into it and look at the Alarms tab, you should see the alarms the Server is kicking out.

(note: there may be a 3.6.1 issue that prevents you from seeing that black alarm, but positive)

Is this a fresh 3.6.1 Server, or an upgrade from your old Server? If it's a fresh Server did you make icons for all your old Agents using an exported topology (XML file) from the old Server?

Mike

Hi Have you updated the Servers yet? If there still off 3.5 then that could be your problem.
