SSCS ultra slow

I've installed SUNWsscs on a V240 with a connected 3310 array under Solaris 9. I am trying to manage the locally connected array via the graphical "ssconsole" and it is PAINFULLY S-L-O-W, often taking 5 to 10 minutes or more just to do simple functions such as selecting the server and doing one of the valid "View" functions.

When the SUNWsscs is stopped and then restarted (via/etc/init.d/ssagent startcommand) it takes 3 or 4 minutes for the startup to even finish!

I have SUNWsscs V2.3

In all aspects, while this is going on the system is loafing - hardly any CPU utilization, network activity nil, loads of spare memory, etc. The SCSI channel is fine, the apps that use the disk array work fine/fast, etc.

If I run a different X-Term application (Legato networker client) from the same box to my PC it is snappy, fast, etc. so it's not some kind of weird Xwindows issue.

Any attempts to do "show" commands for the array withsccli are very fast.

Any suggestions?

Problem Fixed!

On a hunch, I suspected of the version of Java runtime (J2RE) installed on the host box, so I upgraded the Java runtime and now it is working just fine!

Bad version: Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.1_02a-b01)

Good version: Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_13-b06)

Not sure if the old one was "bad"... but I decided a bit newer version wouldn't hurt.
