SL500 administration

I have inherited an SL500.

Can anyone help me with setting it up in NetBackup? I have tried to connect to the interface via ssh but it won't accept the password. Is there anyway to reset the password? And what would the default password be? Also once its reset is ssh the best/only way to connect?

Thanks. I haven't recieved any documentation on the library and the group that i received it from don't want anything to do with it.

The SL500 interface (i.e. Net connections) are not used by Netbackup. The public interface is for end user connection to the Library Monitor from Solaris, an application originally supplied with the library. According to my Storage support, the private interface is reserved for future use. The Reserved port is for your Sun or Storage rep who uses his trusty console to login and configure the library. Unfortunately you need this access to change passwords, configure the net on the public TCP/IP port. (Service contract or Time/Materials) The Solaris is a pretty lame piece of software. It Displays some information and current status on the library, but allows no control.

We use Netbackup Enterprise 5.1 running on Solaris 10. Our SL500 is configured with six fiber LTO II drives and 1 fiber robot. If your L500 was operational and correctly configured before, you shouldn't need to do any additional config on the unit itself. If the device is properly connected to the Netbackup Master/Media Server then it should discover it. Part of the issue maybe what is in the L500 for components and its firmware level. We have moved this library from a direct connect to a SAN configuration, added HBA's etc with no assisitance from StorageTec. However, if the library itself needs attention, is 1800USA4SUN time.
